All is now set for maiden edition of FCT Association of Local Governments of Nigeria, ALGON, Chairman’s Cup billed to run from September 29th to 10th October, 2023 at Kwali Area Council .
AMAC will host Soccer Excel Academy in the opening match of the day by 2 p. m at Area 3 playing field on 29th, the second match billed for 4 p.m, Kwali to tackle Gwagwalada Area Council.
Other Councils and clubs taking part in the competition are Kuje, Abaji, Bwari, Boknor Academy, Mambai Pro Academy and Restoration Academy. The Quarter and Semi finals will take place 6th and 8th respectively.
Amb. Moses Ebahor the organizer of the competition said the purpose of the tournament is primarily to discover talent at the grassroot.
He added that the best 5 players discovered will be sponsored abroad to enhance their football career as arrangement have been concluded with 5 European countries .
Ebahor also revealed that the Chairman of Kwali Area Council Hon. Danladii Chiya who is the brain behind the competition was duly represented by Engr. Solomon Bamila during the unveiling and draws ceremony at Tastia Restaurant and Bakery stated that a massive land has been made available to build 5-Star Hotel, training pitches and World Standard Football Academy. In conclusion , the organizer appluaded the Integrated Contructiing Firm for their support and other sponsors identifying with the FCT ALGON competition and promised that the tournament will be a yearly event.
“The FCT ALGON Competition has come to stay. It is to discover talents at the grassroots and also expose the discovered talents to the world. We have hidden talents at the area councils. Various prizes will be awarded to players who excel in the competition at the final to be held in Kwali”. Said Ebahor.
