A 34-year-old man, Obinna Chukwudum, was on Thursday docked at a Badagry Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State.
He was docked for allegedly assaulting one Oluwashola Raji, who is an official of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) while performing his lawful duty.
The defendant, whose address was not provided, is facing a two-count charge of assault and breach of peace, to which he pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, ASP Akpan Nkem, told the court that Chukwudum committed the offences on July 26, at 8 a.m., at Morogbo Junction, Badagry in Lagos State.
Nkem said that the defendant unlawfully assaulted one Oluwashola Raji, a LASTMA official while performing his lawful duty.
“The defendant also conducted himself in a manner likely to cause a breach of public peace by uploading the video of the complainant, Raji on the internet while he was performing his official duty,” he said.
According to the prosecutor, the offences contravene Sections 173 and 168 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015
The magistrate, Mr Patrick Adekomaiya, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N200, 000 with two sureties in like sum.
