By: Bolaji Oyegunle, London Fortune may have smiled on the career of Super Eagles player Sunday Mba as he is being courted by at least five French clubs who are desperate to secure his services.
As at the last count, clubs like As Monaco, Aj Auxerre, Bastia,Lille among others have indicated interest to sign the former Rangers player who was outstanding at the last nations cup in south Africa.
Infact, Bastia are believed to have tabled a million Euro deal for the player, but others are said to be ready to up the offer in order to lure the player to their side.
Mba who was involved in a protracted transfer log jam between Rangers and Warri Wolves jetted out of the country for Paris yesterday, even as his agent and lawyer are expected to join him on the negotiation table on Tuesday.
It is believed that the player may eventually sign for the club that tables the highest bid.
The former junior international secured his visa on Friday as Bastia in a desperate bid to beat the transfer deadline fast racked the process through the French Embassy in Abuja.
Unlike some other players who had to undergo trial, Mba is expected to sign without kicking a ball since he had impressed the clubs during the Nation’s Cup and the confederation cup in brazil.
His move to France will further deplete the rank of the home based Eagles which last week lost Godfrey Oboabona to the Turkish league.
Mba is one of the players Stephen Keshi is banking on for the crucial 2014 world cup qualifier against the Flames of Malawi next month.
