Barring any other flight hitches and club engagements, Super Falcons winger Francisca Ordega will join the team in Brisbane, Australia, Saturday, while veteran midfielder Halimat Ayinde is expected to hit camp on July 10 to complete the number of players in Down Under to 23.
Prompt News can confirm that flight hitches ensured Ordega who was expected to arrive Brisbane from her Russia base on Thursday could not make it after the aircraft she boarded developed technical issues which prompted the airline to cancel the flight to Australia and reschedule the trip for Saturday.
Also, club commitments have made it impossible for Ayinde who plays for Rosengard FC in Sweden to join the Nigeria camp in Brisbane because the Swedish women’s football league will end today (July 7, 2023).
The player will now arrive Brisbane camp on Monday to complete the number of players selected by Head Coach Randy Waldrum to prosecute the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup final in Australia and New Zealand.
However, the 21 players in camp have been adjusting to the weather conditions as training has intensified despite the war of words between the coach and his employers, Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) which has strained the relationship between the employer and employee.
Waldrum has on Thursday engaged in another media attacks on NFF through his normal Podcast interviews, accusing the federation of financial malfeasance and describing the NFF response to his earlier outbursts as “childish”.
