The Super Eagles have been drawn alongside Cape Verde,  Central African Republic and Liberia in Group C of the 2022 World Cup qualifying series.

The draw ceremony which was anchored by former France international defender Marcel Desaily took place at the Carlton Hotel in Cairo on Tuesday night.

The Super Eagles will open their campaign against Cape Verde in March.

Nigeria have not faced West African islanders Cape Verde at full international level, while they beat a George Weah-inspired Lone Star of Liberia to qualify for the 1998 World Cup in France.

The overall winners of this group will qualify for the third and final round of the qualifiers, which will be played on knockout basis with the eventual five winners advancing to Qatar 2022.

Gernot Rohr’s charges have qualified for the last three editions of the FIFA World Cups.
