Coronation Group Ltd, the title sponsor of the 2024 Lagos Polo Tournament Silver Cup, on Sunday pledges more commitment to the growth of the sport in Nigeria.
Its Chief Executive, Wole Onasanya, made the pledge at the finals of the 2024 Silver Cup at the Lagos Polo Club, Ikoyi.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that finals of the 120th edition of the tournament was won on Sunday by Ibadan Durante after defeating Kano MSR in a keenly contested match.
The 2024 Silver Cup tournament which galloped off on Feb. 13 had 14 teams across the Polo Clubs in Nigeria in attendance.
Speaking on the support for the Polo sport in Nigeria, Onasanya expressed delight to be title sponsor of the coveted Silver Cup at the tournament.
He added that the sports would continue to receive more support from the company.
“We are committed to development of polo in Nigeria while we also demonstrate our commitment to support the sport because it is what gives us joy.
“Coronation Group has a long tradition of supporting the Lagos Polo Club and we have been supporting for the past seven years.
“The 2024 Silver Cup has a beautiful ending where the competition showcased what we care about, because we care about Polo in Nigeria.

“We have seen great sportsmanship here and we congratulate the winners and all the participants and we are committed to the course of promoting the sport more in Nigeria.

“Coronation has been in Nigeria for some years now and we have different ways of reaching our customers through various investments like insurance, asset management, security and others, ” he said.
Onasanya said that Coronation Group would launch a `Wealth App’ that would encourage more investment among the youths.
NAN reports that Carl Alakija of Ibadan Durante emerged the `Most Disciplined Player’ of the tournament while Koye Ige won the ‘Most Valuable Player’ of the Tournament. (NAN)
