Governor Babangida Aliyu of Niger state has advised political appointees eyeing 2015 to either work very hard for the people or find their ways to the alternative political parties to realize their ambitions.
He spoke on Tuesday during the signing of the 2014 Appropriation Bill into law at the Government House, Minna. The Bill provides for N98.8 billion spending in the 2014 fiscal year.
Aliyu advised, “If you want to win election, you most serve the people and those of you in the PDP who want to win election by all means without working should defect to other party”.
He also urged the legislators to be alive to their responsibility so that the budget could be implemented to the letter.
The governor called on the lawmakers to always put the executive to task regarding the implementation of the budget, saying Ministries, Agencies and Parastatals should always be scrutinized.
“Nigerlites should hold me responsible if I fail in my responsibilities. I urge the National and State Assemblies to regularly scrutinize the MDA’s and Commissioners who are saddled with the responsibilities of budget implementation”, he said.
Niger State House of Assembly Speaker, Adamu Usman said the House has adopted medium term physical frame work meant for 2014 to 2016, in line with provisions of the physical responsibility law section 13 sub section 1 and 6 as passed by the House and ascended by the Governor.
Therefore, he expressed optimism that the 2014 budget will record greater performance that will systematically consolidate on the past achievements and open a greater opportunities for Nigerlites.
