The chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Board of trustees (BOT), Mr Haliru Bello has said that members now have an opportunity to rebuild the party by taking quick advantage of the present cracks within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
According to Bello who spoke in Abuja, when PDP members from Kebbi state paid him a visit, the party had made several mistakes while in power for 16 years, but hastened to add that members can rebuild the party sooner than expected.
To achieve this, he said there was urgent need to reconcile with the founding members of the party across all the states of the Federation to return and use the principles with which the party was founded to rebuild it ahead of 2019 general elections.
The ruling party, APC appears to be divided now in the aftermath of the election of the Principal Officers of the Senate and House of Representatives.
After the mock primaries, the party leadership had announced Senator Ahmed Lawan and Femi Gbajabiamila, as its choice for the Senate presidency and Speakership.
But, some Senators and Reps members rebelled and connived with the PDP to elect Bukola Saraki and Yakubu Dogara as Senate President and Speaker respectively.
