Akwa United continued their resurgence in the Nigeria Professional Football League following a comprehensive 4-0 win against Kada City in their match day eight encounter at the Akwa Ibom International Stadium, Uyo on Monday, reports Promptnewsonline.com.
The hosts dominated from the start and were rewarded for their impressive efforts when Mfon Udoh netted the opener in the sixth minute.
It was Udoh ‘ s fourth league goal of the campaign for the Promise Keepers.
Former Abia Warriors forward, Ndifreke Effiong doubled the home side’s advantage in the 35th minute.
Kada City weathered the storm for a while but conceded the third a minute after the hour mark when Wisdom Fernando fired the ball home.
Effiong got his second and his side’s fourth of the game four minutes later. He has now scored four league goals for the club.
At the Akure Township Stadium, Sunshine Stars defeated 10-man Katsina United 2-0 in a keenly contested encounter.
Former Nigeria youth international, Samuel Tswanya was shown a straight for a rash challenge in the 32nd minute.
Dayo Ojo put the Owena Waves ahead from a long range shot in the 66th minute.
Former Heartland forward, Fuad Ekelojuojti got the second deep into stoppage time.
Gombe United thrashed Nasarawa United 5-2 at the Pantami Stadium in another game played on Monday.
Musa Usman and Abdul Azeez scored twice for the hosts in the encounter, while Adamu Mohammed scored the other goal.
